Tutor Time
Roll call
We value the start of each day and expect students to arrive promptly for roll call at 8.45am. Roll call is an opportunity for Heads of Year to welcome students each morning and remind them about the importance of positive behaviours and being prepared for each day. Important notices will also be shared with respective year groups during roll call.
Tutor System
Each tutor group is aligned to one of our four houses Churchill, Attenborough, Rowling and Earhart.
Tutor groups meet for 25 minutes on a daily basis. Tutor time forms an essential part of the curriculum at North and tutors follow a weekly schedule covering the following:
• One session for House updates and attendance
• One session for a Year group assembly
• One session of our CARE Curriculum or careers (PSHE)
• One session for Literacy
• One session for Numeracy

The form tutor is the first point of contact for your child.
The Role of the Form Tutor
We believe that a form tutor’s role is central in both caring for students and monitoring their social and academic progress. This includes encouraging students to maintain high standards of work and behaviour and to take up enrichment opportunities.
A form tutor will support all students within their tutor group, helping to build strong student teacher relationships and nurturing positive peer relationships. Tutors will monitor uniform, equipment, punctuality and attendance and liaise with parents and Heads of Year regarding concerns so that these can be addressed swiftly to ensure that students are able to reach their potential.
Tutors reward and track house points to maintain a high level of engagement and success at school to ensure all students thrive by making the most of the opportunities school offers. Tutors celebrate individual talents and achievements and help students to reflect on areas for development.
As your child progresses through school their form tutor will support them in different ways. They'll demonstrate ways to your child to promote independence, solve problems, manage the potential stress of exams and help them organise their time to meet deadlines and expectations. As students' progress through their five-year journey into our sixth form, tutor sessions focus on further education and preparing students for the world of work.
