Remembrance at North 2022

Remembrance at North 2022

As ever at North, we always treat Armistice Day with great reverence. Our school has its own memorial on the year 9 playground that records the names of former students from North who lost their lives in service.

This year, we decided to focus on the purple poppy. The purple poppy was created in 2006 by the charity Animal Aid to commemorate the animals which served during conflicts as the charity viewed that they had been the forgotten victims of war. Approximately eight million horses and donkeys died during WWI. It was created to be worn alongside red or white poppies.

Our service included song, poetry recitals, music, and readings and was supported by staff who are ex-miliary and current cadets.

It was as always at North, a moment of true reflection and a time for thanks to those who gave their lives for our freedom today.
