Commonwealth Tree Planting

Commonwealth Celebration

In this year of the Queen celebrating her Jubilee, she has initiated a fantastic concept called ‘The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy’. The idea is that the 54 Commonwealth countries around the world will all take part in an initiative where trees are planted in public spaces.

By acting together, all countries are recognising and raising the profile of the importance of conservation and creating green spaces.

North Bromsgrove worked together with Heart Of Worcestershire College to plant trees by the basketball courts in front of the Artrix. This community project was a fantastic opportunity for both educational institutions to work together.

Some of our Duke of Edinburgh students went over to support the project and enjoyed planting the trees with many members of the local community. It will be a lasting legacy of their time at North as they watch them grow over the coming years and remember their time at school and their community service for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
