Bang the drums for 6th form

Bang the drums for 6th form!

At North, we offer an exciting music qualification at 6th form for our musicians. The RSL Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Music Qualification opens opportunities for students to learn many new musicianship skills as well as exploring all career options within the Music Industry. It provides a music industry qualification that equips students with the skills, knowledge and understanding for entry to employment in the music industry or progression to further study at a higher level.

Although we have superb music facilities and the recording studio, we look to enhance our students' understanding of the subject beyond the classroom and to develop and wider understanding of the subject within society. As part of this course, Year 12 Music students made their way to ‘The British Drum Company’ in Manchester for an amazingly unique experience.

The students had a tour of the main drum factory, got the opportunity to see how drums are made and manufactured followed by a professional dialogue with the marketing manager and employees about this bespoke and extremely specialist area of the Music Industry.

The students will be exploring, as part of their Instrumental Study Unit, how each of their individual instruments is made. They will also develop composition, performance and appraising skills over the course of their studies.

Who knows where their musical talents will take them within the industry, but we look forward to following their careers!
