The Form Tutor plays a vital role in a student’s life at North Bromsgrove High School. It is the Form Tutor who should be the initial point of contact with any queries or concerns you may have about your child (refer to website).
We are constantly working to ensure our communication with you is easier, quicker and more efficient. OurSchoolsApp is an innovative and personalised app for school and will allow us to keep you updated with school information, news, calendar events and direct contact information for staff. If you have a smartphone (Android or iPhone) you can download OurSchoolsApp from Google Play Android or the Apple Store for FREE. Access is also available on a tablet and iPad by following the same download process. Using the relevant device (iPad, iPhone, smart pad, tablet or android phone), search for ‘OurSchoolsApp’ on your app store Google play for Android or iTunes for Apple devices.
Our innovative pastoral system is designed to support our students in both a care and guidance capacity and in an academic achievement capacity. The school has 4 different colleges which are made up of groups of curriculum subjects with a common theme. The subjects that make up each of the colleges provide the form tutors for that college.
Tutor groups will be arranged in a horizontal format with year 9 in tutor groups together and continuing throughout their time at school. This process is intended to engage the students in subject areas in which they have an interest or an academic aspiration and provide age related specific advice and guidance as appropriate.
Students in years 10 and 11 are already established within their colleges, and year 9 students are allocated to one of these 4 colleges. Each college has a ‘Dean’ and each year group has a Head of Year, who works closely with subject teachers and parents to ensure that each student achieves their potential.
A whole host of inter-college activities are held throughout the year.

As a school we have been at the forefront of digital homework solutions since 2012. We are pleased to be partnered with Show My Homework – a new, innovative tool for managing, completing and monitoring homework issued by staff.
Show My Homework is a web based programme where students and parents/carers can engage and monitor homework issued by staff. We hope this approach will enable students to improve their organisational skills, time management and help them to keep on top of their workload.
Personal accounts are been created for students for effective management and tracking of homework tasks through a very intuitive user interface. All students have a gradebook and homework calendar which is automatically linked to their subjects, class and teacher.
The site allows students and parents/carers to access their homework either:
• By logging-in with their user name and password. This will provide them with a personalised calendar showing only their homework. Students or parents/carers will receive their user name and password from form tutors.
• By viewing the whole-school homework calendar and filtering by subject or teacher. This does not require a log-in.

Lockers are situated, where space allows, close to form rooms, rather than in one central area. During the first 2 days of the new school year, Mrs Higgins, Finance Officer, will visit individual forms to issue lockers and keys. If you have not returned the voluntary contribution letter which includes the issue of lockers then one can be obtained from school reception.
Mobile Phones, iPods and other such equipment are permitted in school but MUST be switched off and NOT used in the school building during lesson times. Please note that the school cannot take any responsibility for the security of such items.
Payments for school trips and school fund can be made over the internet. A letter detailing the procedure and providing each student with a Pupil Identification Number will be sent to parents/carers in September.
NB: Payments for student meals cannot be made this way. An independent company called BAMFM operate the catering service at North and they operate a different system.
It is vital that your daughter/son has a pencil case and that she/he has at least 2 blue or black pens in it every day. Students are also expected to bring in a red pen (for written feedback purposes), a pencil, rubber, ruler, and calculator. It would also be beneficial to have a set of coloured pens. If studying a language a dictionary for that language is also required.
Each year there will be a report, a Parents’ Evening and two or three other progress reviews. The dates of these can be found on the school calendar. You will receive the report and Progress Reviews by pupil post but an e mail/text will be sent reminding you that it is on its way. The progress reviews and the report will provide you with subject forecasts showing whether your daughter/son is expected to reach expectations or not. It is vital, that you let us know that you have received each report/review, by email, reply slip or text.
